HOT Off The Presses Information

Don't Leave Home Without It!

The "rulebook" has now been changed in regard to the following. I would be interested in hearing from the racers that NHRA talked to before doing this. I thought, probably incorrectly, that we, the racers would have some say in the changes being made. If not that, it least some warning that something was coming.

They make IHRA look better all the time.

What's Next?

NHRA Division 3 Director Jay Hullinger has posted the "So-Called Rules" for the Jeg's Super Quick Series as being the "ET Rules" found in the NHRA 2003 Rulebook. Very strange(?) that he should be making verbal commitments to racers for breaking those very rules as put forth.

Use of Data Recorders (Not Permitted, according to the "Rulebook" in any ET Class) is not only being allowed ,but someone it appears, is  telling racers that it is never questioned.

Does this mean that when you come across a S/Q racer at the local track running S/P, that the electronics have been removed for that race? I seriously doubt it.

BY THE WAY: Super Quick Racing is part and parcel of the ET Class of Super Pro. The Series just runs closer to the cut-off 4.500 ET for the 1/8th mile equivalent in that particular ET Class of Drag Racing. At least it was... until it got out of control and no one is now sure just what it is.

S/Q = Super Pro / Super Comp / TAD / Top Sportsman / Pro Mod / Let's not forget those that cannot pass chassis certification. (Yes, you have competed against them too)

Question: Has anyone ever had a fuel check during a Super Quick event?

I'm starting to think that nitromethane (among others) is present more than we know.

What will be permitted next?

NHRA Division Rules that you don't know about!

For those of you not aware:

Jay Hullinger, NHRA Division 3 Director, is allowing an unqualified race car into the Super Quick CLOSED FIELD at Gateway this coming Sat. July 5th. The racer was qualified in another vehicle at the event.

Please read Section 17 Page 225 paragraph "Qualifying," subparagraph 5) (on pg 226) and see what you think.

***** July 1, 2003 *******

Jay says he has another set of race procedures that deals with Rained Out Events, that says he can let him do it. Jay also says that he can arrange for me to see the rule but cannot give me a copy of the book, nor will Glendora (according to him). I told him that others were watching this situation and might call him about it too. I went on to tell him that for the "Bible" it is made out to be, "The Rulebook" leaves us uninformed and I don't agree with having the secondary information not available to everyone. They should follow the rules as set forth in the manner in which they are displayed to everyone, ie.."The NHRA Official Rulebook." I told him it was like the "Constitution" had HIDDEN clauses.

According to Jay Hullinger, If your event is rained out and rescheduled, you do Not have to return with the qualified vehicle. Just call him before the event and get his blessing for the different car...he must give it since we all now know that is being done, and according to him, has been done in the past (he didn't specify who). I advised Jay that some of us follow the Rulebook given to us and it is sadly incomplete as shown by this situation.

I also told him that he should be following the rules that everyone has available to them, not some book that no regular racer can have even though it effects our racing.

Call Jay and ask him about the "Unknown Rules".
