| The undersigned hereby petition NHRA Div 3 to alter the
"Qualifying Format" of the Jeg's Mailorder Super Quick 32 Series to meet
the Standards set forth by NHRA in its' Official Rulebook, dated as of 2001,
which sets forth a limit of 4.500 seconds (eighth mile equivalent) for all
its' designated Super Pro Classes.
We feel that by allowing any race vehicle to "Qualify into a field" at a limit which equals out to Faster than the standards set by NHRA, the Division is advocating the unfair treatment of all racers in above said class. We ask the NHRA Div 3 alter the implementation of the ".20 Qualifying Weight Break" now in effect, to read that "No Vehicle May Exceed The 4.500 Limit as Set Forth In the NHRA Official Rulebook At Anytime, To Include The Use Of Any Qualifying Weight Break." Each Door Car Racer Shall Have The Choice Of Using The .20 Weight Break, Or Not Using The .20 Weight Break, Thereby Accepting The Standard 4.500 Overall Limit As Set Forth By NHRA and continuing the practice of fair and even competition for all. |
| After considerable deliberation of the .20 weight performance allowance
used in qualifying for the NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series we have opted to
continue its use for the 2002 season. The system, which was introduced in
1997 serves as an equitable way to provide parity between dragsters and much
heavier full-bodied cars when qualifying for the Super Quick field.
There have been several different options suggested by various individuals including those you mentioned in your e-mail. All were evaluated, however we feel at this time the .20 weight performance allowance provides the most equitable solution to this issue at this time. We will continue to evaluate its use. Thanks for your support of the NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series. Jay Hullinger, NHRA Division Director |
Note from the Webmistress:
Please note, for the first time NHRA Div 3 has actually scaled the S/Q 32 competitors. This was done after passes made at Gateway International Raceway during the 1st event of the 2002 S/Q 32 schedule.
Prior weight difference claims were unsubstantiated.
If NHRA Div 3 forwards ,any weight information which they gathered, to us, we will post that info here.
We heard there were some light doorcars and some heavy dragsters. The truth of all of this should be interesting.
